Plunder Picker Challenges and Resolutions

 Plunder Picker Challenges and Resolutions

The Issue:

Keywords and Competition. It was discovered that the main keywords for Plunder Picker, "Random Selector", "random picker", "decision maker", "etc..." all have very high competition. My app is not showing up on any searches. Users have to hit new to filter new apps in order to see the Plunder Picker app or search for it by name.

Proposed Solutions:

Keyword Research and Main Store Listing Refinement:

Resource: Google Keyword Planner

random selector number 1M - 10M

random picker  10K - 100K

decision maker  10K - 100K

random name picker 10K - 100K

name picker  10K - 100K

random number picker 10K - 100K

maker decision 10K - 100K

pick a random 10K - 100K

picker random 10K - 100K

random number generator picker 10K - 100K

random selector name 1K – 10K

raffle generator 1K – 10K

giveaway picker 1K – 10K

giveaway winner picker 1K – 10K

giveaway generator 1K – 10K

easy decision maker 1K – 10K

random name draw 1K – 10K

random winner generator 1K – 10K

choice maker 1K – 10K

random decision maker 1K – 10K

random name selector 1K – 10K

number picker 1K – 10K

Idea is to target the lower end searches that still get some level of traffic.

Visual and Marketing Strategy Refinement:

Understanding the success of our competitors' marketing techniques, I plan to improve how Plunder Picker is showcased on the Google Play Store. The new visuals for the app have moved away from basic screenshots to more engaging, ad-style images with descriptive text overlays. This strategy draws inspiration from top competitors whose captivating visuals have effectively attracted users' attention.

The Issue:

Competitors offer interactive ways to attract their users that Plunder Picker does not. For instance, a chat room for people that are also spinning the same wheel.

Proposed Solutions:

There will be other quality of life additions made to the app.

I plan to implement an option to give Plunder Picker users access to a history of their loot (random choices) and an option to share their results as they please.

Users can make highly customizable lists that will include sublists, nested sublists, and the ability to give the items a weight.

Additional Theme's will be available.

Users can customize lists by temporarily hiding items.

The issue:

User Accessibility issues without taking from the Theme.

I want to stay away from buttons all over the place. I like the idea of users clicking on the treasure map to get their stored lists. Eventually I want different elements on the picture to be animated. I am getting feedback that the UI is not intuitive.

Possible Resolutions:

First time instructions when loading the app has now been implemented. The first time the user accesses the app, they will be presented with an instruction screen prior to entering the main screen.

Shared Preferences was used to ensure that the app only loads these as first-time instructions.

First time tutorial.

Option to reactivate the first-time tutorial.

The Issue:

After a user opens their chest, it is not obvious what list they selected.

The Resolution:

Add the title name so that it is clear what list they picked.

This page will be updated as resolutions are implemented or issues are identified.
